Gaelic in the Borders
Gaelic in the Scottish Borders Failte gu Gaidhlig anns na Criochan ! (Welcome to Gaelic in the Scottish Borders) Se amas a bhuidhean Gaidhlig anns na Criochan brosnachadh canan agus cultur de luchd na Gaidhlig ann an Alba. Established in 1994, Gaelic in the Borders aims, as our name implies, to promote Gaelic language and culture within the Scottish Borders. Membership is open to anyone sharing similar interests. Members have free access to our growing resource library of books, tapes and other materials in both Gaelic and English. 'Welcome to Gaelic' is the title of our guide to the opportunities available for learning the language and is also free to members. We are affiliated to CLI - the Gaelic learners' own organisation with whom we promote Gaelic Day Schools from time to time. We support the Gaelic language classes provided by the Scottish Borders Council 5+ Education Programme. Gaelic speaking writers, poets, singers and musicians are regularly invited to speak or perform for our members as well as anyone else interested in Gaelic language and culture. Our programme for 2007-2008, set out in the "News and Events" section, gives the flavour of what we are trying to achieve. Gaelic in the Borders News and Events |
