February 2008 Ceilidh and Photographs

This ceilidh was a bit different to our usual nights in Newstead, as it was billed as "A Taste of Burns". A successful evening was enjoyed by everyone, and our thanks go to all who provided entertainment with a Burns theme, and to Ross who piped in the haggis. An excellent haggis, neeps and tatties supper was provided by the ladies on the committee and appreciated by all who attended. ... [more]

Dr Margaret Bennett - 25th October, 2007

Dr Margaret Bennett entertained a large audience at The King's Arms Hotel, Melrose with a varied and interesting talk on Gaels in Newfoundland, which she illustrated both in pictures and song. She was accompanied by Monty, fresh from the Mod, who also entertained the company admirably with Gaelic songs and tunes on the accordion. ... [more]

Sarah Naylor Concert 28/09/07

Fiddler, Sarah Naylor, Gaelic singer, Maeve MacKinnon, accompanied by keyboard player Douglas Millar entertained a large crowd at Melrose on 28th September. Sarah's playing of "Sitting in the Stern of a Boat" was particularly moving, as was Maeve's singing of "The Pibroch." Annual General Meeting - 30th April, 2007 - Report

The Annual General Meeting was held in The King's Arms Hotel, Melrose on 30th April, 2007. There was an exceptionally good turnout of Members, who learned that Gaelic in the Borders had enjoyed a successful year on all counts.
